I often don’t think about it, but can you imagine how many plastic spoons, forks and knives people go through? I have no idea (I may need to research this) but I’m sure its quite a bit. Think about it… people go to a fast food restaurant. They don’t have them there. Even if you take the food home, since they give you the silverware, you’re not likely to use stuff you need to wash. Why would you when you can eat and throw it away!? If you have a party, do you want to use silverware you’ll have to wash later, or silverware you can just throw away?
That’s why I think food service places should use sporks more often and at home, just take the extra minute to wash your silverware.
