Celebrate poetry month

Check out our book display in honor of National Poetry Month. Do you write poetry? Why not send some my way and I can post it on the blog!

One of my favorite poems is by William Carlos Williams:

so much depends
upon

a red wheel
barrow

glazed with rain
water

beside the white
chickens.

I never really questioned it, but I just finished Hate That Cat by Sharon Creech and she made me think… why does so much depend upon that red wheelbarrow? Who is it that depends on that red wheelbarrow? Has it just rained or is it old rain water? Do chickens like rain?

I know, silly questions. Sometimes its nice to ask silly questions. What do you think the answers are?

Chickens don’t like rain very much; they’ll hide inside the coop unless it’s only a sprinkle. They love dirt baths much more!
