Book Discussions at…

I’m still working on getting you guys to come to a book discussion. How about if we met somewhere else besides the library? Maybe we could meet at Leaf & Bean or Jitters? What do you think?

Next month’s book discussion is about green things, which is about as broad as you can get. Plants, St Patrick’s Day, even books with green covers might do!

BTW, even though no one showed up, I had a great discussion with myself. 🙂 I read the book Riot by Walter Dean Myers. It was written in play form and it was about the NYC riots during the Civil War when Lincoln imposed a draft. There were gangs of poor Irish who were afraid that Black people would take their jobs, although some of the rioters were just using it as an opportunity to steal from local businesses. The main character has an Irish mother and a Black father, so you can just imagine her confusion throughout the book.

It was a great book and I highly recommend it!
