Call of the Wild

I just finished reading Call of the Wild for the Big Read program that’s happening in the spring. Its not a book that I would normally read, but I really enjoyed parts of it.
The book is a little violent. People are abusive to the dogs and the dogs are abusive to the dogs and to people. It takes place in Alaska and is told from the perspective of one of the dogs, who’s name is Buck. He doesn’t start out as a pack dog, but grows accustomed to the life. He finds that not only does he like the life, but he wants to be pack leader and he goes to whatever length possible to do it.
The humans in Buck’s life are all very different. Some are indifferent, some violent and in a few small instances, humans have a good impact in his life.
I hope that you decide to read it and join us for a great discussion. The book discussion for the whole family will take place on Tuesday, January 12 from 6:30 – 7:30 PM. Hope to see you there!
