VOYA Poetry Contest 2009

VOYA is putting on their second annual poetry contest, and I’m wondering if any of you would like to participate in next years contest. I would act as your “sponsor” and collect submissions from those of you between the ages of 12-18.

This has been taken directly from VOYA:

Poems would be judged locally by a group of us and we would select three of the most worthy poems in our area.
Entries must reach VOYA by December 31, 2009.
PLEASE NOTE: Submissions directly from teens will not be considered or returned.
VOYA judges will select the best of all the submissions country wide. When notified, sponsors must return our forms with parent’s permission to print the work of each winning teen poet. Each winner will receive a $20 cash prize and a copy of the April 2010 issue.
The details:
Contest submissions may be poems of up to thirty lines on any topic (no exceptions to length limit). They must be typed double-spaced in a Word document, accompanied by the poet’s:

  • name
  • age
  • town and state

If you decide you would rather send this to your school librarian, here’s some information they will need to know.
On the same page with each poem, sponsors must include their own contact information:

  • name and job title
  • organization, school or library
  • street address, city, state zipcode
  • phone number
  • email

Please attach the document to an e-mail with the poet’s last name and “VOYA Teen Poetry Contest” in the dubject line and send to voya@voya.com
